Stay tuned!
Apparently blogger decided to randomly eat my last post, so here we go again. Stayed tuned to early next week when we have a fabulous guest blogger, not to mention giveaway!Stayed tuned over the next few months as we close in on some fabulous new releases, and I offer more giveaways! In other news, I've had quite the week. I've been too distracted by new books to write, which means I'm severely behind on my goal for the week. But Suzanne Brockmann's newest came out. As did the new Susan Elizabeth Phillips. And with that one shipped (finally!) my copy of the always fabulous Eileen Cook's What Would Emma Do. So really, can you blame me?Labels: random musings, writing
Strike 1!
Happy birthday to Mom! In honor of her, we all went out Saturday night. A little pool, a little bowling, a little cheesecake...what more could you ask for? Well, if you're me a slightly more respectable score. In the end it came down to The Boy and Mom, our two high scorers for the night. And the winner was...Mom! And it was an honest win, too, not just because it was her birthday. Then there was me...left behind down in the, ahem, lower numbers. Though to be honest, it doesn't bother me all that much. I am well aware of my limitations when it comes to sports. The fact I bowled all ten frames is enough for me.Labels: random musings
New love of my life...
Sorry folks. This may be a bit misleading of a title. The new love of my life is the new London Fog latte at Starbucks. I don't even like Earl Gray tea all that much, and yet this is the drink to buy. Can someone explain it? Because I sure can't.
Maybe it's the creaminess of the milk, mixed with the soothing elements of tea. Maybe it's the vanilla flavor. Maybe it's all of the above.
I don't really care, to be honest. I just know I love it, and I hope it sticks. It's replacing my normal drink of choice, and since I don't love coffee, this is a very good thing.
So please, Starbucks, I beg you. Don't take away my new love.
Please. Labels: random musings, tea
The crazy thing is...
The crazy thing around here may, in fact, be me. There are some days, as a writer, when you simply need to hit the panic button and run screaming from the room. These days are usually closely correlated to those days when the manuscript simply refuses to do what you want it to do. Some (ahem, Serena) would say this problem stems from me flying by the seat of my pants (forever known in the future as being a Pantser), and not plotting enough. I think it means I've hit about a third of the way through the book. There's frequently those days of panic. Every time I sit down to write the words come out like blood from a stone. I sit and type, and erase and type some more, and erase and...well, you get the picture. Writing is hard work. No one told me this when I was a kid, so I make sure to tell all my students this...just in case they are crazy like me and want to write. Writing is hard. It's not all flowing prose and wonderfully colorful scenes. (Unless, of course, those scenes are entirely about the colors of the room. In which case, I probably don't want to read the book. Sorry!) Frankly, I think writing should come with a warning label. "Write at your own risk. May lose sanity in the process."Or does the fact that I write mean I lost my sanity a long time ago? Oy. Either way, I love writing. There's nothing I like better than a scene coming together. Now if only this scene would come together...Labels: writers aren't crazy, writing
Happy New Year!
How is it already 2009? Is anyone else feeling like last year flew by? The year sped past me without me even realizing how quickly it all moved, and nothing moved quicker than my breaks. In honor of the new year, and my decision to NOT make any resolutions, I thought I'd do a year in review. So, here it is: -Finished writing 1 manuscript, started writing another.-Read countless books, both that I loved, and some that I sent packing. -Met a wonderful guy who makes me laugh.-Participated in a year long leadership program.-Started my third year of teaching.-Watched my stepfather go through chemo and radiation, and come out on the other side of it all.-Cursed the snow, snow, and more snow.-Made new friends, lost some old friends, and cherished my current friends. -traveled to San Francisco and Michigan.Looking back, it's been quiet a rollercoaster. Here's to a fabulous 2009, may it bring with it all the good you wish for, and none of the bad we dread.Labels: New Year, random musings
