16 Random thoughts...
The ever fabulous Keira tagged me for the 16 Random Things about Me meme...only I'm not sure I can come up with so much randomness. At least 16 things you haven't already heard. So let's see if I can try...Rules: Write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 16 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.1. I'm the older sister by 4.5 years.2. I've known my oldest friend for 28 years, and my best friend for over 20.3. I've traveled through seven different countries.4. I studied French for 13 years and am considered fluent (though I've lost much of the language).5. I must wash my hair in the morning, if I'm going to do anything with it beyond shove it under a hat. 6. My grandmother comes from the Transylvanian region of Europe.7. This same grandmother was the one to give my first "official" romance novel, a Harlequin Presents. I can still picture the cover, but not the name. 8. Most of my freshman year classes in college had fewer than 20 students (apparently this is quite shocking to some people. I personally don't get it.)9. My college roommate and I share a birthday...and a love for many of the same television shows. 10. I'm short...but my sister's shorter than me. 11. I was one of only 2 girls in my preschool class. 12. I modeled as a kid. And I was darn cute at it too. 13. I don't like brussel sprouts, but if roasted corn is around, watch out!14. I love to analyze poetry...just not when I have to agree with everything the professor says. 15. I have studied 3 different languages, mostly at different times.16. I'm a Hebrew School dropout...but I was still Bat Mitzvahed. Okay, so here's where I vere off track. I'm not tagging anyone in particular. Seven Random Thoughts...
Christina tagged me with the Random Things Meme the other day. But first, a moment for the rules.Random Meme Rules1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.2. Post these rules on your blog.3. So here you go, seven weird and/or random things about me:1. I have a minor obsession with all things monkey/chimpanzee/gorilla or orangutan. I think baby chimps are just about the cutest animal out there, not to mention often the funniest to watch. 2. Growing up I was convinced there were monsters under my bed. So I insisted my bed be pushed up against the wall. I then lined up my stuffed animals against that side of the bed to prevent said monsters from attacking. Apparently my very young self was not quite quick enough to recognize they could just come out the open side.3. I was a child model. My parents had a friend in advertising, and apparently I had a face buyers would trust. I was in a regional add for Meyer's ice cream. I was also in a print ad for a local company known for selling camp clothes and sweatsuits. 4. I hate to be bored. I will often over schedule myself in an effort to avoid boredom. Which leads to number 5...5. I'm not very good at simply relaxing and being. Too much nervous energy? The fear someone might call me lazy? Not sure why, but I'm very bad at it.6. I'm a girly-girl. I like facials, manicures, massages and pedicures. I don't particularly like mud or dirt, and I especially hate them under my fingernails. Makes gardening difficult unless I have gloves. Even then? If any dirt gets inside? I'll spend half my time trying to get the dirt out.7. I remember strange television shows from when I was a kid, but have no idea who starred in them or what they were about; all I remember is their names.And now the really fun part...I get to tag six friends to participate in the meme. Top Ten Ways to Spend a Sunny Day...
The last several days have been sunny, an absolute blessing after a winter of dull, gray, rainy weather. So in honor of the sun, and Dona's post, here are my top 10 ways to spend a sunny day...
- Biking...sunny weather is perfect for a nice long ride with Mom.
- Sitting on my porch with a good book and a glass of ice tea.
- Walking around Greenlake. It's a lake. It's a circle. What more can I say?
- Taking my grandparent's boat out on the lake. Since I moved out here, this one happens way less frequently.
- Taking a blanket out to Greenlake, along with some writing or a good book.
- Walking along the waterfront. Whether it's the Sound or the Lake, it's relaxing and gorgeous.
- People watching at any of the above places.
- A picnic. Granted I hate bugs, and believe me there will be a post on that later, but packing a picnic lunch or dinner and taking it out to a park to eat? Divine.
- Sunsets. Sunsets after a sunny day are just about the most beautiful thing I've seen.
- Sitting outside at a cafe with an iced latte or iced tea, a good friend and lots of laughter.

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Very Rewarding Experiences...
 Dona has once again tagged me for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Very Rewarding Experiences:
- Walking across the stage to receive my Masters in Teaching. It's hard to top this one. After having been out in the work world, I made the choice to go back to school full time. Let me tell you, it's much harder the second time around. All the sudden my life no longer felt like the one I'd built. But receiving that diploma, knowing I made it through? Fabulous.
- Finishing my first full length manuscript. Again, not much can compare with this one. There something about typing The End on a manuscript when you weren't sure you'd ever get there.
- Moving across the country. I sometimes wonder how my life would have been different, had I stayed in Michigan. Almost all of my friends have moved from there, as well as much of my immediate family. Since moving to WA, I've met the most amazing people, and some of my dearest friends. I can't imagine life without them.
- Completing a 20-mile bike ride. Completing this ride with my mother makes it even more special.
- Dinner with friends. I never laugh as hard when I'm alone (though let's be honest, I laugh plenty even alone), as I do when I'm with good friends.
- The moment when a new concept clicks for one of my struggling students. The look of pride on his or her face makes me so unbelievably proud.
- When I make a fabulous dinner, even when it's only for me. I love good food, but since I live alone, I rarely cook anything fancy just for me.
- When all my clutter is put away. I'm not messy, per se, but I tend to spread out, and I don't have a ton of time to clean back up. But I love that feeling of having a clean, uncluttered kitchen table.
- Completing a home project without help. I love that I put my computer desk together on my own, and that I put my coffee table together almost on my own (thank you D!)
- Sitting out on my porch on a sunny day, with a good book and a glass of iced tea. I'm usually running around, or working, or writing. So to have the luxury of relaxing outside means that I finished all the Must Do's.
